Newton and Edward found it encouraging to learn with Einstein and began to ask many questions about soil. The facts they did not know. Einstein was happy to help Newton and Edward gain some insight about soil, such an important part of our life.
Newton: Which top soil is best suited for growing plants.
What do you think would be Einstein's answer?
Loamy Soil
The best topsoil for growing plants is loamy soil. It is a mixture of sand, clay and another type of soil particle known as silt. Silt occurs as a deposit in river beds. The size of the silt particles is between those of sand and clay. The loamy soil also has humus in it. It has the right water holding capacity for the growth of plants as it has almost equal proportion of fine particles and the large particles. It contains a balance of all three soil materials--silt, sand and clay--plus humus. It has a higher pH and calcium levels because of its high organic matter content. The feel test for loam yields a smooth, partly gritty, partly sticky ball that crumbles easily.
