Solution

Adult grasshopper goes through the following stages egg, nymph and adult. Hatching of eggs into nymphs is the second stage of metamorphosis of grasshopper. Nymphs look like adult grasshoppers, called as molts. The molts are wingless and lack reproductive organs. They undergo five substages before developing into fully grown adults. These substages are called as instars. Each instar is characterized by shedding of the cuticle skin and gradual growth of wings. In order to survive, nymphs feed on succelent and soft plant foliage. This stage lasts about 5-6 weeks before the nymphs transform into fully grown adult grasshoppers.
