(a). Yellow vein mosaic of lady’s finger/okra/ bhindi:

  1. The disease shown in the figure is yellow vein mosaic of lady's finger.
  2. In this disease, the entire network of veins becomes yellow in colour.
  3. In severe infection, young leaves become yellow and plant is highly stunted.

(b). Yellow vein mosaic of lady's finger is caused by the virus called

bhendi yellow vein mosaic virus.

(c). Spreading of Yellow vein mosaic of lady’s finger:
  1. The virus which causes this disease spread through insects like whiteflies.
(d). Examples of plant diseases:
  1. Citrus canker diseases of citrus which is caused by the bacterium Xanthomonas citri.
  2. Tobacco mosaic disease which is caused by the virus tobacco mosaic virus.
