a) The process is phagocytosis.

The antigen such as bacteria is engulfed by the white blood cells which are phagocytic such as macrophages and monocytes. A phagosome is formed inside the cell. This phagosome fuses with the lysosome to form phago-lysosome. The bacteria is lysed by the hydrolytic enzymes of the lysosome. Hence the phagocytic cells in the human body play an important role in immunity.
