Solution

i) Figure A:

Figure A depicts mutualism. Mutualism is a relationship between two species in which both the species are benefitted. They can not survive without each other. Butterflies are phytophagous and feed on the nectar of the flowers, which get pollinated by them. Both the flowers and the butterflies are benefitted from each other.

Figure B:

Phytophagous insects feed on the sap of the plants.

Figure C:

Figure C represents commensalism. Commensalism is a relationship between members of two different species in which one of them is benefitted while the other remains unaffected.

Figure D:

Figure D represents predation. Predation is a relationship in which a member of one species kills and eats the member of another species.

ii) Predation:

Predation is a relationship in which a member of one species kills and eats the member of another species.
The member which kills is called predator and the one which gets killed is called prey.

In this case, the cheetah is the predator as it kills other animals for its food.

Final answer: Predation

iii) Protocooperation:

Figure C shows the egrets and grazing cattle. They exhibit commensalism. Commensalism is a relationship between members of two different species in which one of them is benefitted while the other remains unaffected.
In this case, egrets feed on the ticks of the cattle. Hence, egrets get benefitted.

Final answer Organisms: Cattle and egret
Association: Commensalism

iv) Phytophagousinsects:

Phytophagous insects feed on the plants and plant sap.

Final answer: Phytophagy
