Absorption spectrum is observed when an electronic transition takes place from a lower level to a higher energy level. So options (c) and (d) cannot be correct.

For the transition n=1n=2,
1λ1=RH[112122]

λ1=43RH=1.33RH ...(i)

For transition n=3n=8
1λ2=RH[132182]

λ2=57655RH=10.47RH ...(ii)

Comparing equations (i) and (ii), we get that the transition n=3n=8 gives an absorption line of maximum wavelength.
