On heating the rod, the length of the rod increases. On what factors do the increase in length depends on?
The material of the rod
The length of the original rod
The increase in its temperature
It depends on the material because different materials have the different arrangement of the atoms. When rods of the same material and of equal lengths are heated the increase in the length of a rod is found to be directly proportional to the increase in its temperature. For same increase in temperature, increase in length of the rod is directly proportional to the original length of the rod.
