Community, also called biological community, in biology, an interacting group of various species in a common location. For example, a forest of trees and undergrowth plants, inhabited by animals and rooted in soil containing bacteria and fungi, constitutes a biological community. The resultant loss of species or other components in communities has potentially serious impacts on the provision of ecosystem services, including the future potential for those that are currently less concerned. Hence the stability of a biological community depends on the species present in that community.
