Question

One card is drawn randomly from a well shuffled pack of 52 playing cards. Find the probability that the drawn card is a red coloured card

Open in App
Solution

The total number of outcomes of a deck of 52 cards are 52.

Since, cards of heart and diamond are red cards and there are 13 cards of heart and 13 cards of diamond in a deck of 52 cards, therefore, the total number of favourable outcome that it is a red coloured card is 13+13=26.

Therefore, probability P of getting a red coloured card is:

P=2652=12

Hence, the probability of getting a red coloured card is 12.
