Question

One side and one diagonal of a rhombus ABCD are 4.5 cm and 5.5 cm, respectively.

Open in App
Solution

Given: One diagonal of rhombus ABCD is 5.5 cm and side is 4.5 cm.
All the sides of a rhombus are equal in length. So, l(AB)=4.5 cm, l(BC)=4.5 cm, l(CD)=4.5 cm and l(DA)=4.5 cm
Let the given diagonal is AC = 5.5 cm
Steps of Construction:
(1) Draw diagonal AC = 5.5 cm.

(2) Then, draw an arc taking A as centre and 4.5 cm as the radius. Now, draw another arc with C as the centre and 4.5 cm as the radius, cutting the previous arc at D. Then, join AD and DC.

(3) Draw an arc on the opposite side of D by taking A as centre and 4.5 cm as the radius. Then, draw another arc with C as the centre and 4.5 cm as the radius, cutting the previous arc at B. Then, join BC and AB.

Thus, ABCD is the required rhombus.
