$\to$ Let x be the total monthly income

$\therefore$ he spends 20% of x=0.2x on house rent

$\therefore$ he spends 60% of x=0.6x on house expend

$\therefore$ Total expenditure =0.2x+0.6x

=0.8x

$\therefore$ Total savings=x- 0.8x

= 0.2 x

Also Total saving = Rs.2000

$\therefore$ 0.2x = 2000

x = 10.000 Rs

$\therefore$ total monthly income = Rs.10,000.
