Solution
The correct option is C FSH and LH
Ovulation refers to rupture of mature Graafian follicle and release of the ovum in body cavity on 14th days of 28 days menstrual cycle.
FSH is secreted by anterior pituitary gland. It stimulates growth, development and hormonal secretion of Graafian follicle and ovum maturation. LH is also secreted by the anterior pituitary, which inhibits secretion of FSH; stimulate maturation and rupture of Graafian follicle and release of the ovum. This makes option C correct.
LTH (luteotropic hormone/prolactin) is secreted by anterior pituitary gland and targets mammary gland to stimulate breast development and milk production after baby birth; this makes options A and D incorrect. Vasopressin/antidiuretic hormone (ADH) is secreted by posterior pituitary gland and targets nephrons to increase water reabsorption and thereby decreasing water content in urine. This makes option B incorrect.
TSH is thyroid stimulating hormone that is secreted by pituitary gland and target thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4), and triiodothyronine (T3). Option D is incorrect. The correct answer is C.
