Solution

Answer :

Here difference of age of A and B is 2 , So

A - B = 2 --------------- ( 1 )

And
A's father D is twice as old as A , So

D = 2A --------------- ( 2 )

And

B is twice as old as his sister C , So

B = 2C , Then

C = B2 --------------- ( 3 )
And
The ages of D and C differ by 40 years.
So ,
D - C = 40 , Substitute values from equation 2 and 3 , we get

2A - B2 = 40

4A - B = 80 --------------------- ( 4 )

Now we subtract equation 1 from equation 4

3A = 78

A = 26 , Substitute that vale in equation 1 , we get

26 - B = 2

B = 24

So,

Age of A = 26 years
And
Age of B = 24 Years ( Ans )
