A block of wood is floating in water. the portion of block inside water measures 50 cm x 50 cm x 50 cm.What is the magnitude os buoyant force acting on the block?

Volume of block inside water is = 50 Ã— 50 Ã— 50 cm³ = 125000 cm³ = 0.125 m³
This is also the volume of water displaced water.
Density of water is = 1000 kg/m³
So, buoyant force = weight of water displaced = (1000)(0.125)(9.8) = 1225 N
