Solution

a.Let the CP of 1 m cloth = Rs xLoss % = 10%Now, SP of 1 m cloth = Rs 9Now, loss % = lossCP × 100 % 10 = lossx × 100 loss = x10CP - SP = x10 x - 9 = x10 x - x110 = 9 9x10 = 9 x = 10So, CP of 1 m cloth = Rs 10Now, CP of 1 m cloth = Rs 10Profit % = profitCP × 100 15 = SP - CPCP × 100 3 = SP- 1010 × 20 3 = 2 SP - 10 2SP - 20 = 3 2SP = 23 SP = 11.5So, SP of 1m cloth = Rs 11.50

b.Let CP of an article = Rs xLoss % = 25%SP of an article = Rs 225Loss % = lossCP × 100 % 25 = CP - SPCP × 100 1= x - 225x × 4 4x - 900 = x 3x = 900 x = 300So, CP of an article = Rs 300

Now, CP of a article = Rs 300SP of an article = Rs 360Since SP > CP, so there is profit.Profit = SP - CP = 360 - 300 = Rs 60Profit % = ProfitCP × 100 % = 60300 × 100 = 20 %
