Question

a) State a condition under which a body moves in such a way that the magnitude of its average velocity is equal to its average speed.

b) A train starting from rest moves with a uniform acceleraqtion of 0.2 m/s2 for 5 minutes. Calculate the final velocity acquired and the distance travelledin this time.

Solution

a)when an object is moving along a straight path

b)

a=0.2m/s2

u=0m/s

v=?

t=5min = 300sec

s=?

from eqn of motion

"v+u=at"

v=0+0.2 x 300

v=60m/s

from eqn of motion s = ut +1/2at2

s=0 x 300 + 1/2 x 0.2 x 300 x 300

s=9000 m i .e. = 9km
