A water pump having a power of 750 W works for half an hour. How much of water could be pumped from a well which is 10m from the level of the overhead tank?

Given that

Power of the water pump P =750W

t=1/2h=30min=1800sec

Now,Energy produced by water pump in time t = Work done by water pump in time t-------(i)

We also have E=P x t=750 x 1800=1350000J

Also given the depth of water h =10m

Work done by the pump = Energy stored in the water due to pumping out upto height(h)

W=mgh

From (i),

mgh=1350000

m x 10 x 10=1350000

m=13500kg
