Question

An object of mass 10kg is at a certain height above the ground. If the potential energy of

the object is 200 J, find the height of the object from the ground?

Open in App
Solution

Given,

Mass = m = 10 kg

Potential energy = U = 200 J

Let the height of the object above the surface of the earth be h.

We know that,

U = mgh

=> 200J = 10×9.8×h

=> h = 200 ÷ 98 = 2.04 m.
