antibiotics only affects on bacteria , when we take antibiotics against cold which is caused by virus , we get relief from cold. why ?

Antibiotics are effective against microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi and parasites. They are not effective against viruses. Most upper respiratory tract infections, such as the common cold and sore throats are generally caused by viruses, antibiotics do not work against these viruses.
