IUCN has classified species under following heads:
Normal Species: Animals- cow,goats,sheep,buffalo,dog etc.
Plants- sal, pine, rodents, etc.
Endangered Species: Animals-black buck, crocodile, Indian wild ass, Indian rhino, lion tailed macaque, sangai), etc.
Plants- Talipot Palms, Decalepis hamiltonii, Malabar Mahogany, Reds Sandalwood,Ilex khasiana etc.
Vulnerable Species:Animals- blue sheep, Asiatic elephant, Gangetic dolphin, etc.
Plants- Ebony tree, Actinodaphne lawsonii , Assam catkin yew , Siroi Lily, Malayuram etc.
Rare Species: Animals-Himalayan brown bear, wild Asiatic buffalo, desert fox and hornbill, etc.
Plants- Milkwort, bird’s foot, forkfern, Magenta Ghost Flower, Yakla Snow Lotus etc.
Endemic Species: Animals- Andaman teal, Nicobar pigeon, Andaman wild pig, mithun in Arunchal Pradesh etc.
