Solution

Let the original price of 1 kg sugar = Rs. x

Total money = Rs. 56
Quantity of sugar bought for Rs. 56 = 56x kg
Let the reduced price of 1 kg sugar = Rs. (x - 1)

Total money = Rs. 56
Quantity of sugar bought for Rs. 56 = 56x-1kg

According to question,
56x-1 - 56x = 156x - 56(x - 1)x(x - 1) = 156x - 56x + 56x2 - x = 1x2 - x - 56 = 0x2 - 8x +7x - 56 = 0x(x - 8) + 7(x - 8) = 0(x - 8) (x + 7) = 0x - 8 = 0 or x + 7 = 0x = 8 or x = -7(rejected)so original price of 1 kg sugar = Rs. 8.00
