Question

calculate the molarity of of pure water .given that density of pure water is 1g/mol.

Open in App
Solution

Density = mass / Volume
Let us consider the volume of water be 1 L
Then
Mass of water is = 1 Kg
= 1000 g
Now,
M = Number of moles/ Volume in( L) .......(i)
Number of moles = 1000 / 18
Where the molar mass of water is 18 g per mole
Number of moles = 55. 55
On substituting the above data in equation (i) , we get:
M = 55.55/ 1
M = 55.55 mole/ L
