Uses are :
1. Carbon :
a) All the biomolecules like carbohydrates, fats, proteins, nucleic acids are made up of carbon.
b) Coal (carbon) also used as a fuel.
2. Nitrogen :
a) Nitrogen is used as a preserving regent for packaged food.
b) Nitrogen is used to make fertilisers.
3. Oxygen :
a) Oxygen is used for human respiration.
b) Oxygen is used for the treatment of water and to weld metals.
4. Flourine :
a) Flourine is used for the preparation of teflon.
b) Flourine is also used in toothpastes to prevent toothdecay in the form of flourides.
5. Neon :
a) Neon is used in vacuum tubes, television tubes and high voltage indicators.
b) Neon is used in fluorescent lightning.
