Question

Cathode rays are made up of electrons and cathode rays deflect when enter the magnetic field. So if we fill a room with magnets and hence get a magnetic field and then if we tie an electron with a thread and start oscillating it so will the electron oscillate or deflect due to magnetic field?

Solution

An electron is so small that it cannot be seen by any device.So. it is not possible to tie it with a thread. Moreover, the deflection of cathode rays was observed by the florescence produced on ZnS screen in an apparatus specially designed.
