Covalent bond is formed by sharing of electrons between two atoms.

Following are the conditions required for the formation of covalent bond between two atoms..

1. The electronegativity deference between the two atoms should be minimum.

2. The covalent bond is generally formed between the two non metals.

3. Each combining atom must contribute at least one electron to the shared pair.

4. The combining atoms should attain the outer shell noble gas configuration as a result of sharing of electrons.
