Consider a gas at 0 degree celcius. At what temperature will the volume be doubled if the pressure is kept constant?
Given :
Temperature , T1 = 0o C or 273 K
Solution :
Condition 1 : T1 = 273 K ; volume = V1 ; pressure = P
ideal gas equeation for this equation
PV1 = nRT1
PV1 = nR273 .............. 1)
Condition 2 : T2 = ? ; volume = 2V1 ; pressure = P (constant)
Ideal gas equation for this equation
P2V1 = nRT2 ................2)
Divide the equation 1 with 2
T2 = 273 2 = 546 K
At 546 K the volume will be doubled .
