Question

Density of solids in high liquid?why?

Open in App
Solution

Liquids have large intermolecular spaces and hence less intermolecular force of attraction but solids have large intermolecular forces, hence liquids are less denser than solids. But it has an exception, because water expands below 40C and hence solid ice has less density than that of liquid water.
