Question

do plants sleep ? do they sleep in the same manner as we do?

Open in App
Solution

At night, photosynthesis in plants stop due to absence of sunlight but respiration continues. Osmotic pressure of guard cells lowers down that results in closing of stomata and thus transpiration also gets decreased or stopped This situation can be considered as ‘sleeping’. But it is not in the same manner as we do.
