Yes, Nucleases are also called as cleaving enzymes. As nuclease is an enzyme which is capable of cleaving the phosphodiester bonds between the nucleotide subunits of nucleic acid. They cut the DNA at specific recognition nucleotides sequences known as restriction sites. Nucleases are divided into endonuclease and exonuclease.
