The pesticides that are used to control pests in gaseous form are called fumigants. The process by which they are spread is called fumigation.
Some organic fumigants are also available in the market which can be used alternatively. Sometimes hot steam air is also used in place of fumigants. Moreover, practice of crop rotation, cover cropping, soil solarization etc reduces the amount of pests in a crop field.
