Question

Explain the processes of reabsorption and secretion of major substances at different parts of nephron with the help of schematic digram.

Solution

Reabsorption is the process where movement of water and solutes from tubule goes back to the plasma of the blood. The tubular epithelial cells in different parts of neuron perform this by active and passive mechanism .Substances like glucose, amino acids, Na+, etc., in the filtrate are reabsorbed actively whereas the nitrogenous wastes are absorbed by
passive transport. Reabsorption of water also occurs passively.

Secretion : Tubular cell secrets substance like H+, K+ and ammonia into the filterate.
