Explain why the properties of 8th element are repeated in the case of the elements arranged in 2nd and 3rd periods of the long form of periodic table?

It is beacuse the 8th element has the same no.of electrons in its valence shell as in the 1st element. Hence chemical properties are similar and so are some physical properties.
