For an ideal gas undergoing isothermal change, the internal energy of the system does not change. Why?

During an isothermal process, there is no change in temperature,$∆T=0$.
And since internal energy for ideal gas is $∆U=C_V∆T$, for isothermal change change in internal energy of a system of ideal gas is also zero.
