Pituitary is an endocrine gland. It produces various hormones that control other glands or many other functions of the body. It is divided into three lobes:- Anterior, posterior and intermediate lobe.

Anterior lobe secret hormones that stimulate the adrenal and thyroid gland and also play an important role in growth and reproduction.

Posterior lobe secret oxytocin hormone that regulate the uterine contractions during childbirth and also stimulates the production of milk.

Intermediate lobe secret hormones that regulate the pigmentation by controlling the melanocyte cells.
