FUNCTIONS OF STATE GOVERMENT AND CENTRAL GOVERMENT

• State government is a form of government in which Indian States rule the government
• Their main minister in the top level is the Chief Minister
• They control internal police force and the revenue to the State government comes in the form of sales tax, stamp duty, etc.
• There is balance of power between the State and the Centre which ensures smooth functioning of the country
• There are many regional and national parties in the States of India which has power to govern the states
• High courts have control over the judiciary of the State
• Executive powers are handled by Governor
• Central Government governs our entire country consisting of 29 states and 7 union territories
• There are two houses in Parliament which are governed by Prime Minister and his council of Ministers
• They are responsible to Lok Sabha
• The executive power is vested with President
• The President can appoint State governors, Attorney General, Chief Justice, Chief Election Commissioner etc
• Judiciary is the independent branch which is governed by Supreme court
• In the Central level, Budget is presented by the Finance Minister
