Solution
Initially the Egyptians used only the barter system along with sacks of grains and a weight called deben to trade. A deben consisted of 91 gms of copper or silver. It was only in the Late period that the coinage started in the civilization. It was during the Fifth century B.C. that coins started making its mark in Egypt from abroad. Initially the coins were regarded more as precious metals rather than means of trade. Earliest of the Egyptian coins were attic types with the name of Alexander on them.
