Question

How are lyophyllic colloid is more stable than lyophobic colloid ?

Open in App
Solution

Lyophillic colloid particles are solvent loving particles and they do not form cluster of colloid particle easily and thus, they do not coagulate easily. However, the lyophobic colloid particles are solvent hating and they easily form cluster and thus coagulate easily, disturbing the colloidal solution. Thus the lyophillic colloid particles remain in the colloidal state, thus, increasing the stability of the colloid.
