how can we consider opening and closing of petals as a growth movement?
Closing and opening of petals can be considered as comparative growth movements. There are two surface of petals- the outer and the inner surface. As a response to certain hormones and stimuli, if the inner surface of the petal shows cell growth and elongation, the flower will open or blossom. If the outer surface responds to the stimuli and hormones by growing, the flower will close.
