There are some morphological differences between different species of mosquitoes based on which we can distinguish an anopheles from other species. In anopheles mosquito, the proboscis and rest of the body is in straight line but in other species such as aedes, there is an angle between proboscis and the body. Larvae of anopheles rest parallel to the water surface but larvae of other species such as culex and aedes, rest at an angle to the water surface. Anopheles is also a normal mosquito and there is no morphological difference between infective and non-infective anopheles.
