Solution
Excretory system maintain homeostasis by eliminating metabolic wastes from the body and retaining useful metabolites and other compounds in the body. Excretory system maintain the optimum level of useful compounds such as amino acids, glucose, phosphates etc. by absorbing them from body fluid during excretion and eliminate wastes such as urea, ammonia etc. from the body through excretion. Acid-base balance is regulated by maintaining pH of the filtrate and absorption of salts during excretion. pH is regulated through exchange of hydrogen ions for bicarbonate ions in the tubules of nephrons.
