Plants cannot convert solar energy into electrical energy, they can convert solar energy into chemical energy through photosynthesis. In photosynthesis, a pigment chlorophyll captures the solar energy in the form of sunlight and by using water and carbon dioxide it convert that solar energy into sugars (chemical energy).
