How does fats digisted in our body and where does it takes place?
Fats are insoluble in water; hence they are first broken into small droplets called micelle, by the process of emulsification in small intestine. Emulsification is the process of breaking down of the large fat globules into smaller globules and make them water soluble. The liver secretes bile juice in the small intestine which causes emulsification of fats so that enzyme lipase could act on them efficiently. Lipase breaks down fats into fatty acids and glycerol which are then absorbed by the epithelial cells of small intestine by the process of passive diffusion.
