Question

how does heat energy produced in this reaction 2k+2H2O--- 2KOH+H2+heat energy

Open in App
Solution

Reaction involved -

2K + 2H2O ---> 2KOH + H2 + heat energy

The reaction is exothermic reaction i.e release high amount of energy. This can be explained on the basis of high reactivity of potassium. The high reactivity is due to large size of metal which allow the loss of loosely held outer electron for reactivity to water and allow the formation of potassium hydroxide with releases of lot of energy.
