how does sound travel ?

Open in App
Solution

Sound is a vibratory disturbance in a medium which carries energy from one point to another without there being a direct contact between two points. The particles vibrates and the energy get transferred to next particle and from that to the second next particle and so on. In this way the sound travels from one point to another in a medium. It is the vibrations through which the sound energy get transferred from one point to another. Also

When sound wave passes through a medium, the medium itself does not move along the direction of the wave only the particles of medium vibrate about their fixed positions.
