Question

If a human is infected from AIDS and a mosquito sucks blood from that same person does the mosquito get infected

Open in App
Solution

If a mosquito suck blood from a person suffering from AIDS, the HIV virus will get into the mosquito but the mosquito will not get infected with the virus. This is because the virus will not survive and replicate in the mosquito rather it will be digested in the gut. HIV needs a living cell to survive and replicate but in mosquito it is sucked directly with blood into the gut.
