If friction between two surfaces is independent Of the area of contact then why are the tyres of vehicles made wider?

Hello!
You are right.

But the tyres of the vehicles are made sufficiently wide so that they exert lesser pressure of the load on the ground. This way they get lesser pressed by the ground (reaction) and maintain the firm circular shape for enhanced speed.
