Question

If two masses 100 kg and 5 kg are placed at a distance of 2 m, then calculate gravitational force between them and if both objects placed on the surface of the earth , then also calculate gravitational force by the earth to the objects.

Open in App
Solution

mass of 1st object ( M1) = 100 kg

mass of 2nd object ( M2 ) = 5 kg

distance between them ( R ) = 2m

we know that...

F = G M1 M2 / R2

= 6.67 * 10-11 x 100 x 5 / 4

= 8.3375 x 10 -9

now, to find the acceleration due to gravity of both the objects..

as it's given that both the objects are on the surface of the earth..

" g " is 9.8 m/sec2
