Is the megaspore mother cell same as the embryo sac ?

No, both are different. Megaspore mother cell (MMC) is produced on the differentiation of ovule. This MMC undergoes meiotic division to produce 4 megaspores. Out of these, 3 degenerates and one functional megaspore develops into the embryo sac.
