LPG has high calorific value than CNG ? Then why CNG is considered a better fuel than CNG ?

CNG is considered as better fuel than LPG. This is because of some advantages of CNG.
The advantages of CNG over LPG are as below.

1. CNG is obtained from natural gas, oil well, coal mines, plants or by waste water treatment (some sources are renewable source) where as commercially available LPG is derived presently from fossil fuel.
2. Safety issue: CNG is lighter than air, so on leakage it disperse in air easily which prevents accidents. But LPG is heavier that air, so on leakage accumulated on ground, which may be dangerous.
3. Maintenance cost of CNG powered cars is lesser than LPG powered cars.
4. CNG is less polluting than petroleum oil (LPG is also less polluting).
