Question

mention how the evaporation of a liquid is affected with;

i)decrease of surface area exposed to the atmosphere

ii)decrease of temp

iii)increase of humdity

iv)decrease in wind speed

Solution

Evaporation- It is vaporisation of liquid that occurs from the surface of liquid. It can occur at any temperature.
1) Decreasing surface area will decrease evaporation, since it is a surface phenomenon.
2) Decrease in temperature will decrease the evaporation. Since change in state of liquid to vapours require rise in temperature so if temperature is decreased, so evaporation will also decrease.
3) Increase in humidity will decrease in evaporation because the air is saturated with water molecules and less of vaporisation will take place.
4) Decrease in wind speed will decrease in evaporation because wind can take away the saturated air above the evaporating liquid surface so that rate of evaporation becomes fast. So if wind speed is decrease then saturated air will be more and evaporation will be decreased.
